  1. Put walnuts and syrup in pan on the stove over medium-low heat. Toast nuts while stirring until they are fragrant and beginning to brown. Remove from heat and cool.
  2. Dice red onion into very small pieces.
  3. Soak cherries in water for 5-10 minutes.
  4. Remove chicken from bones and chop into bite-size pieces.
