When most of the water has reduced, add the spices (garam masala, turmeric, cumin, coriander, curry powder, and chilli). Stir to combine together and cook for a further 1 minute. Add the potatoes and stir.
Turn up the heat to medium-high, cover the pan and leave to cook for 10 - 15 minutes. Stir occassionally.
Add the beef to a dry pan on low-medium heat. Leave for 2 minutes. Add the onions followed by oil and salt, and stir.
